West Virginia 6th Infantry Regiment

HISTORICAL NOTES:
The West Virginia 6th Infantry Regiment was organized at Grafton, Mannington, Cairo, Parkersburg and Wheeling, W. Va., August 13 to December 26, 1861. The regiment was mustered into Federal service on August 13, 1861, at Grafton, Mannington, Cairo, Parkersburg and Wheeling, in western Virginia.

The regiment spent most of its service guarding the Baltimore & Ohio railroad line, fighting numerous small skirmishes against Confederate raiders and bushwhackers.

The Regiment lost during service 8 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 2 Officers and 167 Enlisted men by disease. Total 177. OFFICERS:
