17th Regiment, Vermont Infantry

HISTORICAL NOTES:
Organized and mustered in: Companies "A" January 5, 1864; "B," "C" and "D" March, 1864; "E," "F" and "G" April 12, 1864. Moved to Alexandria, Va., April 18-22, 1864.

The Regiment lost during service 14 Officers and 133 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 116 Enlisted men by disease. Total 264. OFFICERS:
Francis V. Randall, a veteran of the 2nd and 13th Vermont, was colonel and regimental commander. Charles Cummings and Lyman Enos Knapp were lieutenant colonels. James Stevens Peck, a 13th Vermont veteran, was the regimental adjutant with the rank of Major.[1] Stephen F. Brown, a veteran of the 13th Vermont, was commissioned as Captain and commander of Company A. ASSIGNMENTS:
