Virginia 24th Battalion Partisan Rangers


Historical Notes:
The 24th Battalion Virginia Partisan Rangers was organized on May 23, 1862 under the leadership of Major John Scott. As organized the unit contained three cavalry companies and one artillery company sometime prior to September 12, 1862.
Major John Scott was first Captain of a unit called the Black Horse Cavalry early in the war.

As a Partisan Ranger unit, the Virginia 24th Cavalry Battalion was not officially assigned, but served under Gen. J.E.B Stuart, Gen. Jubal Early, and Col. Mosby. Battles:
