HISTORICAL NOTES:
The Corps De Afrique. United States Colored Volunteers,
22nd Regiment Infantry was organized at New Orleans, La., September 30, 1863.
For the first nine months the unit served as guards at various points. The designation of the Regiment was changed to the 92nd United States Colored Troops, April 4, 1864. They participated in various battles including the Red River Campaign and mustered out December 31, 1865.

ROSTERS:
While it is not known where the men of the 92nd were from, the organization of the unit in New Orleans, Louisiana indicates it was probably part of the 24,500 men recruited there.
