HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 6th Battalion, Texas Infantry (Liken's) was originally formed in late 1861 with cavalry, artillery, and infantry companies. It was officially designated as the 6th Texas Infantry Battalion. The battalion was reorganized as the Texas 11th Infantry Battalion on June 17, 1862, and became widely known in the field as A.W. Spaight's Battalion Texas Volunteers.
The battalion was broken up on November 20, 1864. Most of its companies were assigned to the 21st Regiment Texas Infantry (becoming Companies A, E, H, B, F, and K), while the remaining elements served in different capacities through the end of the war.
