Of the sixteen detachments of Cherokees who went to Oklahoma, four passed through Alabama. Only one originated in Alabama - the Benge Detachment. The others originated in Tennessee. The detachments passed through Bellefont in Jackson County, Huntsville in Madison County, Gunter's Landing in Marshall County, Tuscumbia in Colbert County, and Waterloo in Lauderdale County. The four which passed through Alabama were:

  • The Benge Detachment

  •      The Benge Detachment in Alabama

  • The Drane Detachment

  • The Water Route

  • The Deas-Whiteley Detachment
