18th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry (3 months, 1861)



Historical Sketch:
The 18th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry (3 months, 1861) was organized by the addition of recruits to the 1st regiment, 1st brigade, 1st division, of the state militia. It was recruited and mustered in at Philadelphia on April 24 and 25 for three months. On May 14 the regiment moved to Perryville, where it immediately embarked for Locust Point. It was posted at Fort McHenry until May 22, when it proceeded to Baltimore and there performed guard and police duty until the end of the term of enlistment, with the exception of a detail sent to Pikesville to garrison the national arsenal. Owing to the necessity for their presence at Baltimore, Cos. B, C, D, E, G, H, K, and part of Co. I were remustered into the U. S. service July 24 for ten days, and on Aug. 7, the regiment was mustered out at Philadelphia. Officers:
