45th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment


HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 45th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment was organized at Keokuk May 25, 1864. It was among scores of regiments that were raised in the summer of 1864 as Hundred Days Men, an effort to augment existing manpower for an all-out push to end the war within 100 days.. It moved to St. Louis, Mo., thence to Memphis and Moscow, Tenn., and assigned to duty guarding Memphis camp; Charleston Railroad till September, 1864. They mustered out September 16, 1864.

The regiment lost 21 Enlisted men by disease.
