HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 28th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment was organized at Iowa City and mustered in October 10, 1862. Ordered to Helena, Ark., arriving there November 20, 1862. The Regiment lost while in service 6 Officers and 76 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 3 Officers and 186 Enlisted men by disease. Total 271.
