The 3rd Regiment Iowa Volunteer Cavalry was organized at Keokuk August 30 to September 14, 1861. The Regiment lost during service 5 Officers and 79 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 4 Officers and 230 Enlisted men by disease. Total 318.
