This battalion was organized in August 1863 for six months as local defense in the southwest quarter of the State of Georgia in the counties of Stewart, Webster, Sumter, Dooly, Wilcox, Quitman, Randolph, Terrell, Lee, Worth, Irwin, Clay, Calhoun, Dougherty, Berrens, Colquitt, Mitchell, Baker, Early, Miller, Decatur, Thomas, Brooks, Lowndes, Echols, Clinch, Coffee, and Talfair. Officers:
Jones, Edward T., lieutenant-colonel. Rosters:
The roster of this regiment contains the names of 250 men.
