This set was first offered in the mid 1990's. In my opinion this is the the best of the three sets. The books are arranged around individual battles and told in first hand narrative by the soldiers who fought.

This set was published in the 1980s and sold via book club subscription. Each book is a reprint of an original first hand account of the war. They are magnificently bound in dark blue leather with gold stampings and gold gild on the edges.

This set has gun metal gray covers with colorful cover insert illustrations, 11" high by 9" deep, approx 175 pages, and all profusely illustrated with period photographs, battle maps, drawings, etc...
