11th and 17th Consolidated Regiment, Arkansas Infantry (Griffith's)


HISTORICAL NOTES:
This regiment was formed by the consolidation of the Arkansas 11th Infantry Regiment and Rector's 17th Infantry Regiment in April, 1864. The unit is also known as the 11th/17th Arkansas Mounted Infantry or the 11th/17th Arkansas Cavalry. It skirmished in Louisiana, fought in several small engagements in Mississippi, and was included in the surrender on May 4, 1865. OFFICERS:

    Companies H and I of the Eleventh Arkansas were combined with Company C while the remaining companies remained the same. The companies of the Seventeenth Arkansas were combined into 3 companies, H, I, and K of the new consolidated regiment.
