Alabama 1st Regiment Conscripts


bullet HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 1st Alabama Conscripts were formed in April 1862. The regiment consisted of 10 companies and served primarily as a holding and training unit, stationed at Camp Watts near Notasulga, Alabama, until the end of that year.

After its initial term, attachments from the unit formed a new company known as Echols' Company (the Swanson Guards). This company was stationed in Montgomery and later Fort Morgan in 1863.
