Virginia 11th Cavalry Regiment


Historical Notes:
The Virginia 11th Cavalry Regiment was organized in February 1863, by consolidating the 17th Battalion Virginia Cavalry, one company from the 24th Battalion Virginia Cavalry, and two companies of the 5th Regiment Virginia Cavalry.

They participated in most all of the succeeding battles in Virginia and accompanied Early on his raid into West Virginia. Just before Appomattox they were cut off from the main army and were not present for the surrender. They subsequently disbanded.
