Virginia 19th Cavalry Regiment


Historical Notes:
The Virginia 19th Cavalry Regiment was formed in April 1863, using the 3rd Regiment Virginia State Line as its nucleus. It served in Jenkin's and W. L. Jackson's Brigade and confronted the Federals in western Virginia. Later the unit took part in the operations in the Shenandoah Valley and disbanded during April, 1865. Officers:

The Virginia 19th Cavalry Regiment was formed from men of the 3rd Virginia State line which was made up of the 186th Militia District in western Virginia.

Ball) - Gilmer County, West Virginia Company F (Pocahontas Cavalry) - Pocahontas County, West Virginia Company G (Dixie Boys) - Kanawha County, West Virginia Company H (Captain William P. O'Brien) - Gilmer County, West Virginia Company I (Captain Jacob W. Marshall) - Randolph and Pocahontas Counties, West Virginia Company K ( Captain Edward Norris) - Gilmer County, West Virginia
