Battle of Malvern Hill
July 1, 1862

Orders of Battle do not show the 49th Georgia engaged at Malvern Hill, but regimental records show 2 men were killed and 16 wounded. Exhausted from the battle of the previous day, the 49th was held in reserve along with the rest of Longstreet's Corps south of Long Bridge Road. In mid-afternoon, they were hit by shells from a Union gunboat.
