Under the head of "Remarks" the following information was entered on the muster roll of this company of May 23, 1861:
"My Company was organized, on the 7th.. day of January 1861, at Sumter, So. Ca. under the act of the General assembly of said State, to raise an armed Military force, passed Dec. 1860- were called into service on the 8th.. April 1861 and served at Morris Island until the 26th.. April, when by order of Gov. Pickens they were ordered to Virginia, under Col. Kershaw.
This company was mustered into Confederate service, at Camp Davis, near Richmond, Va., by John Scott, Captain, C. S. A., May 23, 1861.

The muster roll of June 30, 1861, contains the following "Record of Events":
"The Company rendevoused at Charleston on the 8th day of April 1861 by order of the Governor of south Carolina and was stationed at Morris' Island during the siege of Fort sumter - started from Charleston for Virginia on the 24th day of April 1861 - Encamped near Richmond until the 24th May - then proceeded to Manassa's Junction and were stationed at" [undecipherable name] "where we assisted in fortifying the place by throwing up Breastworks unti the 21st .. day of June when we were ordered to and marched to Fairfax Court House where we have been since" [two or three undecipherable words] "to this date, and in Scouting and" [undecipherable word].
The following "Record of Events" in given on the muster roll of May 1, 1862:
"Left camp Greenville on the 9th.. March we marched to Manassas and there burnt every thing which except what our soldiers made use of, we then marched on th Bristow next morning took up our line of march for Warrenton, thence to the Rappahannock river remained several days at Rappahannock River thence to Brandy station & from there to Culpepper C. H. next day marched to the Rappadan the day following went into camp Orance C. H. on the 6th.. April we came on the Rail Road to Richmond from there we were brought down to the Peninsula landed at Kings Landing marched about two miles then encamped for the night, left next morning came to Lebanon church from there to Warrick creek after picketing for 8 days we then marched to Custis fram on 16th.. March 1862"
The muster foll of January 1, 1863, contains the following "Record of Events":
"The Company has made several marches since last muster and was engaged in recent battle of Fredericksburg Dec. 13th."
The following "Record of Events" is entered on the muster roll of March 1, 1863:
"Nothing has transpired of importance, in which the Compy [sic] was engaged, since last muster."
The following "Record of Events" is entered upon the muster roll of October 31, 1863:
"During the month of September this company was transferred with a part of Gen. Longstreets corps from Virginia to the army of Tennessee, was engaged during the battle of Chickamauga, had one lieutenant and two privates killed on 20th.. Sept. 1863"
