On the roll of Company "G," Twenty-seventh Regiment, in the Adjutant General’s office I find the following written endorsement:
"N. B. - Company G, Twenty-seventh Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers, was Company C, Battalion South Carolina Volunteers, commanded by Major Joseph Abney. The Charleston Battalion, South Carolina Volunteers, and Abney’s Battalion, South Carolina Volunteers, were united in 1863, and formed the Twenty-Seventh Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers."
Henry Buist was Captain of Company "G," which was made up of men from different parts of the State, Laurens, Spartanburg, Union, Orangeburg, Charleston, &c., but none from Edgefield.
