Col. F. F. Warley died in Darlington So. Ca. April 15th 1876. The deceased citizen was one of the most prominent and distinguished men in South Carolina.... Attached to this notice, is a more full reference to this worthy citizen from the Florence So. Ca. correspondent of the Chas'n News & Courier. [clipping] "Tribute of Respect to Col. Frederick Fraser Warley, first president of Darlington Council, No. 10, first State lecturer of the Order of the Friends of Temperance in South Carolina...." [clipping] "Col. Warley came of a family identified with the military history of the country. His grandfather was an officer of the continental army in the war of independence and his own father was an officer in the American service in the war of 1812. He was born in Pendleton, S. C., in August, 1831, graduated at the head of a large class at the Citadel Academy in Charleston, in 1849, and continued his studies at St. Mary's College, Maryland. Soon after his return to South Carolina he married Miss Law, of Darlington, and was admitted to the bar ...."
