I have been tracking down my wife's Confederate ancestor (Calvin Watson) from Edgefield Co., SC. I seem to have him placed with Co B, 6th South Carolina Cav. I just recently received his War Records from the National Archives. He served from June 1862 till the end of the war.

Calvin Watson is also listed on the South Carolina 2nd Artillery Regiment Co K-Edgefield Hussars, with a mention of a transfer behind his name. I believe these are the same man.

I was interested in your account of the Battle of John Town (Dean Swamp) because Capt. Michael Watson was my husband's ancestor. Regarding your reference: What is "NSC XXVII?" I understand the Roman numerals, but what is NSC? Do you know if Capt. Michael Watson's grave can still be located in Orangeburg?
