John Vaugh, of the State Guard, Col. Williams' Regiment, from Laurens District So. Ca, in attempting to enter one of the cars, while in motion (who was the train conveying the Regiment onward to Virginia) fell from the platform, or missing his hold, was crushed under a portion of the train. June 15, 1861. He survived but a short time after the casualty. He was a young man of respectability and promise and was much esteemd by his comrades in arms. The above occurred near the depot of Charlotte Rail Road, in Col'a. So. Ca.
