Smoak, J. Wesley (1828 - 23 AUG 1863)
Wesley served in the
SC 20th Infantry Regiment
Company B. He was from Orangeburg County. He was killed at Battery Wagner on 23 AUG 1863. Broken Fortunes lists his last name as SMOKE. Dickert's
History of Kershaw's Brigade
lists his name as "G. W. SMOAK." A
monument is located in the Old Pioneer Cemetery
located on the Salley Archives grounds.
