Shiver, R. C. (?? - 19 JUN 1874)
R. C. Shiver, died in Col'a So. Ca. June 19th 1874, of Consumption. The deceased had matured to manhood, and the writer not remembering him since his boyhood, cannot add any comment or eulogy. The Editorial notice from the Col'a Phoenix, is attached.... [clipping] "... Mr. Shiver was about thirty-five years of age. He was born in Richland Fork, but had resided in Columbia during the greater portion of his life. Early in the late war he volunteered in the Boykin Rangers (Captain Kershaw), and was soon after elected Lieutenant. He acted as scout for Gen. Hampton for several years.... "
