I need to find information on my gggrandfather: James M. Price (Capt.)
I don't know where he was born but I do know that my ggrandfather, Thomas
Earl Price was born in Pickens, SC (1873). Capt. James' wife left Pickens and settled in Greenville, SC with her children (I don't know if the Capt. was dead or alive at the time).
James served in the 2nd Infantry Regiment, Company B. He enlisted at Greenville, for State duty, April 13, 1861; mustered into Confederate service, May 23, 1861; reported on muster roll of May 1, 1862, as absent, on leave, sick, at Manchester Hospital, Richmond, Va.; reported on muster roll of October 31, 1862, as present; wounded at Fredericksburg, December 13, 1862; reported on muster roll of December 31, 1862, as absent, at Richmond, Va., with leave, sick; reported on muster roll of February 28, 1863, as absent, at Greenville, sick; reported on muster roll of June 30, 1863, as at Greenville, wounded; reported on muster roll of June 30, 1863, as at Greenville, wounded; reported on muster roll of August 31, 1863, as detailed to assist the enrolling officers in the 5th Congressional district; reported on muster rolls of October 31, and December 31, 1863, and February 28, May 1, and July 1 (the last available), 1864, as detailed in the Conscript office at Columbia.
