O'Brien, Timothy ( - )
I am the great grandaughter of
Timothy O'Brien (who became a Captain) and I have never seen anything
about him on the net. No one in the family even knew he was wounded. I
have a nice note from WL Kirkland presenting Timothy a horse on behalf
of his friends for his "soldierly conduct" on April 9, l864.
I have his
furniture, and lots of dates of things. But I don't know his wife's
name or his parents. I know he was presented a nice sword and his
obituary says he became a prosperous butcher after the war and that
the old english law of not letting butchers serve on juries would be
suspended in his case as he was a kind and gentle man.
Timothy served in the 4th Cavalry Regiment, Company K. He was wounded at the battle of Hawe's Shop.
