Sandy McDonald, a native of Col'a. So. Ca. and only son of J. P. McDonald, of same place, was killed in the battle of the Seven Pines, in Va, on the 31st May 1862. He was a member of the Washington Light Infantry Volunteers of Charleston So. Ca, was a young man very much esteemed by his commanding officers and fellow soldiers, was generous and brave; but, alas! alas!!, he was cut down in the morning of his youth, by a cruel and relentless foe.
