Maxcy, Col. Hart (?? - 28 JUN 1875)
Col. Hart Maxcy, died at his residence near Columbia So. Ca. June 28th 1875, aged about Sixty years. The [p.187] writer had known him for many years past, can add his testimony to the good character, which he has always borne.... [clipping] "Col. Hart Maxcy departed this life, yesterday after a severe illness of little less than a week's duration. He was about sixty years of age. Col. Maxcy served with distinction in the Florida war, and was commander of a regiment of South Carolina troops under the old regime. He was the son of Hon. Jonathan Maxcy, one of the first Presidents of South Carolina College, and was himself a graduate of that venerated institution. The funeral ceremonies will be performed at the Presbyterian Church, this afternoon at 5 o'clock."
