Lee, Samuel William (1841 - ??)
I have the complete roll for the 4th SC Volunteer Cavalry, Company 'A'. It
is the unit My G-grandfather, Pvt. Samuel Wm. LEE served with from Dec 26,
1861 till after April 10, 1865 near Goldsboro, NC. Most of the troopers were
from Chesterfield County. A few enlisted from other counties, likely kin of
someone from Ch'fld Cnty. Pvt Samuel J. PARKER was the brother in
law of Samuel W. LEE. He lived in the Chesterfield District in 1870. His
wife was Hannah (LEE) PARKER.
Pvt Samuel Wm. LEE married Ellen WHITE in 1888 & moved to Alabama. Ellen
WHITE gave Issue of Anson WHITE in 1882, probably on the Thomas B. BRITT
Plantation, near Cheraw.
Captain Lee was an aide to Gen. Beauregard and was charged with task of
delivering the demand to Gen. Anderson that he surrender Ft. Sumter.
