Holmes, Robert Little

Robert Little Holmes was the first casualty of the war. He was a member of the Carolina Light Infantry Volunteers which became Co. L of the 1st SC Voluteer Infantry Regiment (Gregg's). Robert was killed on 07 JAN 1861. An article and obituary appeared in The Charleston Mercury. He is buried in the Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston.
