HOKE, Col. W. J. ( - 11 OCT 1870) Col. W. J. Hoke, a Merchant in Col'a So. Ca. died very suddenly in that City Oct 11th, 1870. While on his way to his breakfast, he complained of a faintness, and falling down, he immediately expired. He was a native of North Carolina, had resided for many years in Lincolnton; and had served during the entire war in the Confederate army, was severely wounded in the leg at Gettysburg, from the effects of which, he suffered severely....
