Pleasant Goode, a colored man, and formerly the body servant of Gen'l Maxcy Gregg in the Confederate Army, died in Columbia So. Ca. June 13, 1870, after a protracted illness. He, contrary to the general conduct of his race, attached himself to his Democrat friends, and continued faithful to the cause of the White man, until he died. He was buried in the Graveyard of the Episcopal Church in Columbia... He had as his Pall Bearers, the following gentlemen: Col. F. W. McMaster; Col. Wm. Wallace; Col. A. E. Haskell; Prof. La Borde; Col. J. P. Thomas; Capt'n John Waties; Mr. Gregg and Mr Walter Fisher.
