Franklin served in Company C of the 6th SC Volunteer Infantry. He was killed at the battle of Dranesville, VA and is buried in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Columbia, SC. Broken Fortunes gives his date of death as 20 DEC 1861 which was the actual date of the battle, while his obituary below gives 24 DEC 1861.
