DeLeon, MD, David Camden( - 03 SEP 1872)

D'r David Camden DeLeon, a native of South Carolina, and for many years of his early life, a resident of Columbia So. Ca. died at Santa Fe, New Mexico, September 3d, 1872, aged about Fifty Years. The writer recollects him well, when he was a boy at school in Columbia, and in his early youth ... attaches hereto, notice of him from the Phoenix, and Carolinian printed in Columbia So. Ca.

[clipping] "... The deceased entered the U. S. Army as Assistant Surgeon, and went through the Seminole war. Continuing in the army, he afterewards served in the Mexican war, in which he distinguished himself..." Carolinian

[clipping] "David Camden DeLeon, Acting Surgeon-General of the Southern Confederacy, in its earlier days, died at Santa Fe, New Mexico, on the 3d inst. He was a little more than fifty years of age ...." Col'a Phoenix.

Dulin, Col. Rice( - 03 FEB 1875)

Col. Rice Dulin, died in Brownsville Tennesse Feb'y 3d 1875. The writer has had a long and very friendly personal acquaintance with the deceased; but has not seen him for several years last past... A notice of his decease, from the Columbia Phoenix is hereto attached. [clipping] "Death of Col Rice Dulin.... He was born in Mecklenburg County, N. C., June 11, 1809. In early life he moved to Columbia, where he engaged successfully in mercatile pursuits. Subsequently he located in Charleston.... About the close of the war he gathered up his shattered fortunes and removed to his plantation in Arkansas. A few years ago he engaged in mercatile business in Memphis, Tenn."
