Mrs. Christina Davis, the mother of Major Tho's Davis, George Davis, Edward Davis and others of that family; died in the City of Columbia, Ap'l 26, 1873. She was a lady of very advanced life about 90 years. She emigrated t South Carolina very many years ago with her husband John Davis Sr. Dec'd, where she resided until her death.

Davis, Major Thomas ( - 2 MAY 1874)

Major Thomas Davis, died in the City of Philadelphia Pennsylvania, May 2d 1874. The wirter has known the deceased for very many years past; and has only known him as an honest man, a devoted husband, an affectionate and indulgent father.... in the Columbia Phoenix of the 3d April 1874... buried in Trinity Church Grave Yard, Ap'l 4th 1874. [clipping] " ...died last Saturday in the city of Philadelphia, where he has resided for the last two years in a Lunative Asylum. Mr. Davis was a native of Kent County, England, but from early manhood has lived in Columbia... After retiring from active business of this sort, he purchased a valuable river plantation on the Congaree.... Since the war he withdrew his attention from planting and built the Columbia Hotel... [died] in about the seventieth year of his age...."
