William was a medical doctor and one of the signers of the
Ordinance of Secession for South Carolina. He was a first cousin of Mary Jane Cauthen Brasington, great great grandmother of Bil (William) Brasington. William Cauthen died in Lancaster County, SC and is buried in the Hanging Rock Methodist Church Cemetery in Lancaster County, SC.
