BROOM, Charles Powell Alston( - )
Charles served in the 12th Infantry Regiment - Company C. He was the son of William Preston Broom and grandson of Charles M. Broom, Sr. He is buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia, SC.
In an email from Bill Broom, he states that Charles served with Company B of Lyles Rifles. I have not confirmed this service.
There is a C. P. Broom who signed The Ordinance of Secession. It is unknown whether these are the same men.

Thomas served in the 12th Infantry Regiment - Company C. He was the son of Charles M. Broom, Sr. He is buried in the Byrd Cemetery in Timmonsville, SC along with his wife, children and in-laws, under a
large Broom headstone. His grave still bares a Civil War Veterans marker.
Thomas graduated from The Medical College at Charleston in 1856 and wrote >his thesis on Typhoid Fever. A short history of him can be found on pages 20 & 21 of FAIRFIELD COUNTY HISTORIES, published by Fairfield Publishers Inc., printed by Intercollegiate Press.
