Bolton, Mrs. Mary H. ( - 5 JUN 1874)
Mr's Mary H. Bolton (sister of C. P. Pelham S'r Esqr. of Col'a So. Ca.) died in Marlboro' District So. Ca. June 5th 1874. The writer herewith annexed, a naotive of the death of this lady, in the Columbia "Phoenix" of the 11th June 1874. [clipping] "... death on the 5th instant of Mrs. Mary Helen Bolton, wife of James H. Bolton, Esq., of Marlboro District, and only sister of C. P. Pelham, Esq., of this city... Mrs. Bolton connected herself with the Beauty Spot Methodist Episcopal Church, near which she lived the whole of her dutiful and unobtrusive life. Mrs. Bolton gave two sons to the military service in the late civil war, the last of whom, Capt. Charles P. Bolton (since dead), served with distinction and bravery in the cavalry, and the other J. Franklin (who still survives) in the artillery, with Capt. Waties company from Columbia, and lost an arm, gallantly fighting in the latest battle of the war in Georgia. She leaves, also, two daughters, both married, and a husband ...."
