Enlisted at Morris's Island, for State duty, April 24, 1861; appointed 2nd Corporal, May 21, 1861; mustered into Confederate service, May 23, 1861; promoted to 1st Corporal, June 4, 1861; promoted to 4th Sergeant between June 30, and December 31, 1861; reported on muster roll of December 31, 1861, as absent, sick; promoted to 3rd Sergeant between February 3, and April 19, 1862; died at Williamsburg, Va., of typhoid fever, April 19, 1862.
Jacob Bell Jr. son of Mrs. Frances Bell, near Columbia, was buried in Col'a. So. Ca. Apl. 25th, 1862, having died of Typhoid Fever in Virginia. He was a volunteer in the Confederate Army.
