Abram was captured on Feb. 20, 1865, only days after joining the regiment. He was imprisoned at Point Lookout.

Hagood, Johnson Memoirs of the War of the Secession. This book is divided into two parts. Part 1 covers the 1st (Hagood's) SC 12 month regiment. Part II covers Hagood's Brigade, which included the 11th, 21st, 25th, and 27th SC Regiments and the 7th SC Battalion.

Joseph describes the bombrdment of Charleston and duty in Florida, Virginia and North Carolina. He was captured near Wilmington, North Carolina on February 20, 1865, and imprisoned at Point Lookout unitl April 30, 1865. He found incarceration ot be insufferable. As the news of Southern defeats poured in, the became sarcastic. When President Lincoln was assassinated, he wrote, "What a pity. What a pity." (p. 94).
