Young, Abram Hayne. "Civil War Letters of Abram Hayne Young." Edited by Mary Wyche Burgess. South Carolina Historical Magazine, 78 (January 1977); 56-70.

Abram was a Sergeant in the 3rs SC Infantry Regiment. He describes the Peninsula Campaign and duty in Tennessee. He mentions the lack of adequate food and clothing on the Peninsula in May 1862 and again in Tennessee during the winter of 1863 - 1864; the shortage of money; his thought of returning home, and his pride in serving the Confederacy.
