Road from John Ross' farm to Major Ridge's Farm
Photo of the trail segment along the Coosa River.

This is a three-mile-long road that ran from Major Ridge's farm to John Ross's farm, both of which are now within the city of Rome. It is now a walk/bike path as part of the Downtown Heritage Trails.

On-line resources are vague as to the exact location of this part of the trail. There are some sites which state the trail segment is marked with signs, but others report they cannot locate them. This downtown system of over 13.5 miles of trails follows along all three rivers of Rome. Entrances are located at: State Mutual Stadium, Ridge Ferry Park, West Third Street / Barron Stadium, Town Green, Heritage Park, Riverview Park, Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Bridgepoint Plaza, and several other downtown locations.

Portions of the trail are subject to flooding, so be aware of recent rains when planning your trip.

The Trail and Parks Map produced by the city of Rome does not show the trail segment, and there appears to be an effort to gloss over any mention of the Cherokee Heritage, just as is noticeable at the Major Ridge home website.
