Historical Notes:
As the name implies, the Senior Reserves were made up of older men and men who were unfit to serve in the regular army. Unlike the militia and “home guards” however, these men were in actual Confederate Service acting primarily as provost guards, railroad guards and operators, and pickets at bridges and forts.
