Mississippi 6th Cavalry Regiment

Historical Notes:
The Mississippi 6th Cavalry Regiment was organized late in 1863 using Davenport's Battalion State Cavalry as its nucleus. It was mustered into Confederate service in January, 1864. The unit participated in various conflicts in Mississippi. In the fight at Harrisburg it reported 73 casualties. During February, 1865, it was consolidated with the 8th Mississippi Cavalry Regiment and surrendered in May. Officers:

  • November 1864-February 1865: Mabry's Cavalry Brigade, Northern Sub-district, District of Mississippi and East Louisiana
  • February-May 1865: Starke's Brigade, Chalmer's Division, Forrest's Cavalry Corps, Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana
