Mississippi 1st Infantry Battalion ~ State Troops (30 days ~ 1864)
Historical Notes:
The Mississippi 1st Infantry Battalion State Troops (30 days) was formed from eight companies of infantry that reported at Brandon and were enlisted there August 20-31, 1864.
This unit was also connected with 1st Infantry Battalion Minute Men and 13th Inf. Battalion, but from the roster lists there appears to be different units involved. The confusion may stem from having two commanders named Harper (Lieut. Col. J. Y Harper and Maj. W. B. Harper).
The muster rolls cover the period August-September, 1864, when the battalion was encamped at Brando
Officers:
Lieutenant-Colonel -- J.Y. Harper. Major -- N.H. Bradley.
Rosters:
The roster of this unit contains the names of 605 men.
