26th Michigan Volunteer Infantry Regiment

Historical Notes:
The 26th Regiment, Michigan Infantry was organized at Jackson, Michigan, September 10th to December 12th, 1862 and mustered in December 12, 1862. The regiment participated in the suppression of the New York Draft Riots in July, 1863. It was mustered out June 4, 1865. The regiment suffered three officers and 115 enlisted men killed in action or mortally wounded and three officers and 159 enlisted men who died of disease, for a total of 280 fatalities. Officers:
