Historical Notes:
Buckner Guards, Kentucky Cavalry was organized in November, 1861. It was reorganized in the spring of 1862 for 3 years service.
This unit is mentioned in the book "This Astounding Close: The road to Bennett place by Mark Bradley" as the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry Battalion, Company B.
Some have suggested that these men may have been guards for Gen. Simon Bolivar Buckner.

First Organization: These men mustered in from Bowling Green, Warren County.
Second Organization: These men mustered in from Knoxville, Pendleton County.
