Elliott, Lt. John G. B. ( - )
Elliott served in the
1st Georgia Infantry, (Olmstead's)
, the
18th Georgia Infantry Battalion
and
Maxwell's Battery, Georgia Light Artillery.
He saw duty on the Georgia and South Carolina coast, the defense and evacuation of Savannah, and the Carolinas campaign. He reported that the Confederate army was still in good condition in late January 1865, despite being outnumbered by Sherman's forces, and needed only a good General (in the person of General Joseph E. Johnston) to lead it.
