According to an internet site for Colquitt County, J. H. served in Company A, 1st Regiment, Georgia Infantry. He is not listed in Henderson's rosters however, so he may have served in the reserves.
Mitchell served in the 50th Infantry Regiment - Company H. He joined as a private March 4, 1862. Wounded
through shoulder at Gettysburg, Pa. July 2, 1863. Pension records show he was "Unable to return to duty." (Born in Irwin County, Ga.) He is buried in the Sardis Cemetery in Colquitt County, GA. There is an Iron Cross on his grave.
James enlisted as a private in Co. B, 48th Regiment Ga. Inf. March 4, 1862. Transferred to Co. H, 22d Regiment Ga. Inf. March 23,1862. Killed at Spotsylvania, Va. May 14,1864.
