First Families of |

Currently three volumes are available. These books provide family sketches and genealogical information on the first families to settle in Baldwin County, GA. The earliest settlers date back to the 1820s. These volumes are largely based on "History of Baldwin County" by Anna Maria Green Cook which was published in 1925.
In 1806 Baldwin County had a population of 6,300, making it comparable in size at that time to Augusta. Today Baldwin County is home to 44,000 people making up 9,800 families. About half live in the City of Milledgeville which is now home to Georgia College. The First Families Project - Baldwin County, GA CD-ROM has surname folders on these families with notes we have gathered in our research over the years. This CD-ROM focuses on the families which were apparently in the area as early as 1800.
